CLIENT

Den Norske Opera & Ballett, Oslo, Norway

The Opera House opened in 2008 and is located on the seafront in the heart of Oslo. Due to its stunning architecture and spectacular location, it must without a doubt be called one of the most famous opera houses in the world.

The building houses the main stage, stage 2 and the rehearsal stage as well as offices and workshops.

The beautiful main stage auditorium seats almost 1400 people. Due to its construction with vertically stacked balconies, it looks quite intimate despite the many seats.

The stage has a large stage tower and there are side stages to the left and right of the stage and a back stage. The left side stage is extended with a rear stage, while the rehearsal room is located behind the right side stage. In front of the stage is an orchestra pit with powered orchestra elevators. Below the main and back stages are understages.

We were commissioned to investigate and develop technical solutions for the modernization and redesign of the stage machinery systems and performance-related facilities in Den Norske Opera & Ballet (DNO&B) as part of a concept design.

The planned renovation measures are quite extensive. The further procedure will be determined in the following project phases.
