PLANNING & ENGINEERING
We offer design services in all project phases, from the first idea to the opening night and beyond. Buildings for the performing arts are among the most exciting and technically challenging public buildings. The wealth of technical systems that must be integrated into a single building is unparalleled. Stage machinery that moves stage sets weighing tons at breath-taking speed, multimedia systems with the latest network technology and power requirements found only in industrial buildings must be integrated into a single building, while artistic atmosphere and architectural design are not to be compromised. We determine the appropriate technical equipment needed for the venue. We will design all performance related systems, combining proven systems with innovative system designs tailored to your venue. Whatever you have in mind - the development of a completely new building or the renovation of an existing building - we accept the challenges with enthusiasm. In addition to the technical design, we will support the project team in finding the best solutions for the special requirements of performing arts venues. We support the customer right from the start in defining the right basis for his project. We will help the architects find the best layout solutions for stage and auditorium, backstage and front of house areas. We develop logistics concepts for the entire building so that visitors, performers, technicians, as well as set pieces and technical equipment can move around the building without restrictions and dangers.
CONCEPTS & FEASIBILITY
STUDIES
Why? What? Where? Who? When? How? Before applying for funding, conducting architectural competitions, and starting the entire project, these questions must be answered, solutions must be developed and a vision for the project must be defined. We help you to steer the project in the right direction from the start and set it up sustainably. Once the project has started, the concept should be in place and feasibility should be confirmed. If architects and specialist planners have been commissioned, there is usually no time left to develop different ideas, to run through different design approaches and to check their feasibility. If these ideas have not been developed beforehand, you are robbing yourself of the opportunities that these new builds or remodels offer. All the decisions made and not made in the early stages of a project will determine the quality of your theater and future performances. In a new construction project, the quality of the concept -architectural, technical, and logistical – is crucial for the artistic, operational, and commercial success of your performing arts building. We help you with the dimensioning of the stage area, the backstage areas, the auditorium, and the technical rooms. We develop a logistics concept for you that meets your specific requirements. But this is at least as important for renovation projects and is unfortunately often neglected. A refurbishment, whether partial or complete, of a theater is an expensive venture. Theatrical performances and audience expectations are changing, technology is evolving, and so are the demands of the work environment. Therefore, a renovation should be seen as an opportunity to rethink the entire theater. And ideally, that should happen before the entire project team is on board. If you decide to work with us even before the project begins, we can create a conceptual design and conduct a study on your project's needs, resources and constraints, site conditions, timeline, and financial feasibility. We can prepare all the necessary information for the sponsors to make decisions about future procedures as well as for the client to prepare the design brief. If necessary, we compile relevant information for the architectural competition and the tenders for all other specialist planners. We will be happy to guide you through this initial phase and support you in your first steps towards an outstanding performance space.

Venue management, performing arts companies, building and cultural authorities, architects, or investors – no matter which group you belong to, at some point you might get involved in the new development or renovation of a performing arts building. Some of you have experience in the performing arts industry and some in the building industry. To create a performing arts space, you need both. We offer consultancy services for all aspects of the design of these buildings. You can approach us in any phase of the project: for advisory in the initial concept phase to project management, controlling and supervising services during the planning and construction phase.
